A Giant No More / by Matt Clysdale

A dying, giant water bug at Oval Beach, Saugatuck, MI

Another first for Matt Clysdale: only recently in life did I come to know of the giant water bug, living among us in SW Michigan - an astonishingly large bug that is entirely at home in the water. It's fast, agile, and a predator at heart, catching bugs, minnows, and even snakes on occasion

Growing up a boy in SW Michigan, spending a fair amount of time in creeks, ponds, and lakes, it came as a surprise to realize I'd never encountered a giant water bug. Maybe that's a good thing!
